Ormoc bank executive loses over P176,000 to thieves

A 46-YEAR-OLD branch head of a private bank in Ormoc City lost a total of P176,372 after her wallet and credit card were stolen by still unidentified suspects in Ormoc City over the weekend.

The victim, a resident of Ormoc, said the incident happened at the supermarket in one of the malls in the city around 11:40 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021.

She reported the theft incident to police the following day.

According to the complainant, her light pink wallet containing credit card, ATM card, driver’s license and quick response (QR) code was allegedly stolen from her bag that was placed on top of the grocery basket cart while she was busy selecting grocery items.

Police said the victim immediately called the bank to block her credit card, but the suspects had already made transactions.

The purchases included eight mobile phones, medical products, and grocery items at different establishments in the city.
