PDEA 7 catches son of Mabolo barangay councilor in raid

THE son of a councilor of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City was among the people arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 during a raid around 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021.

The raid on what PDEA 7 said was a drug den in S. Borces St., Barangay Mabolo resulted in the arrest of John Paolo Ompoc, son of Councilor Rey Ompoc. The younger Ompoc, 25, was the target of the operation as he was the alleged drug den maintainer.

The suspected drug users who were also caught were Erick John Cristoria, 24; Reyjuldino Cristoria, 32; Francis Sanico, 29; and Marksell Cristoria, 32.

Seized were 49 packets of suspected shabu, weighing 12 grams valued at P81,600, drug bust money and devices for sniffing shabu.

Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7, said that even though Councilor Rey Ompoc’s son was involved, the councilor still signed the inventory, which meant that he did not interfere with what the PDEA 7 agents did.

The elder Ompoc had served Mabolo as its barangay captain.

On the same night, at 11:30 p.m, the PDEA7 raided another drug den in Purok Nangka, Barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City, which resulted in the arrest of an alleged high value individual identified as Lizardo A. Togono, 44.

Togono, whose being an on-call plumber served as his front, allegedly used his house as a place where users can sniff shabu.

Togono’s customers were not caught during the raid as they jumped out of the second floor of the suspect’s house.

The PDEA 7 seized 20 grams of shabu worth P340,000.

A neighbor’s information on Togono’s alleged illegal activities were confirmed by the PDEA 7 after three months of surveillance. (AYB)
