FORMER Lubao mayor and now Second District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab distributed farm produce sourced from local farmers and farm producers in a bid to ease the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the farming sector and bring more food into community pantries in the City of San Fernando.
Pineda-Cayabyab had been buying from local producers left and right and distributing farm produce to community pantries in Magalang and the City of San Fernando.
This, as she called on fellow government officials and the private sector who are supporting community pantries and assistance programs for indigents to help cushion the effect of the pandemic on local producers and the agriculture sector.
Pineda-Cayabyab visited the community pantries in the City of San Fernando over the weekend. She distributed eggs, vegetables and rice to community leaders and non-government groups.
“There is a need to support community pantries especially in areas where there are many people struggling to make a living for themselves because of unemployment due to the pandemic. This time is also an opportune moment to buy from sectors who have been at the strain of a weakened supply chain,” she said.
She said local producers and farmers should be helped by buying them their products for various relief and amelioration efforts.
