Pangasinan town mayor tests positive for coronavirus

BANI, Pangasinan Mayor Gwen Palafox-Yamamoto has tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, which causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In her Facebook post on Monday night, May 3, Yamamoto said her reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test yielded positive results, with her experiencing some mild symptoms.

“Ako po ay naka isolate na at kasalukuyang nakakaranas ng walang panlasa at masakit na lalamunan (I am already isolated and currently experiencing loss of sense of taste and sore throat),” she said.

Yamamoto also asked for prayers and reminded her constituents to wear face masks and practice other health protocols.

“Mahigit isang taon na natin sinisiguro ang kaligtasan ng lahat ng Banian. Sa araw-araw na pagtulong sa tao at pagganap ng ating trabaho, inaasahan na natin na di tayo Covid-proof. Kahit anong pag-iingat, talagang pwede ka pa rin mahawa (We have been ensuring the safety of all Banians for the past year. As we perform daily duties, we already expect that we are not Covid-proof. Despite our carefulness, there is still a chance to get infected),” she said.

Yamamoto was one of the four new active cases in Bani town. (PNA)
