THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P2.9 million worth of illegal drugs in various operations conducted in Bacolod City from April 1 to 30, the BCPO official said Tuesday, May 4.

Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of BCPO, said from April 1 to 30, BCPO confiscated 432.2596 grams of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride with estimated market value of P2,939,365.30.

She said in the same period, BCPO conducted a total of 56 operations that led to the arrest of 69 drug personalities.

Of 69 drug personalities, three of them are high value individuals (HVIs), 62 are street level individuals (SLIs) and four others are newly identified drug personalities in Bacolod City.

Indiape said they already filed 102 cases in court for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Aside from the illegal drugs campaign, she said BCPO also intensified its operations against most wanted persons in the city.

In the same period, BCPO arrested a total of 54 persons with pending arrest warrants. Of the number, six of them are most wanted persons while 48 others were charged with various offenses.

In the campaign against loose firearms, BCPO confiscated a total of eight loose firearms and a total of 13 firearms were also voluntarily surrendered to BCPO.

Indiape said they also intensified their operations against illegal gambling in various areas of Bacolod that led to the arrest of 87 individuals. The police confiscated a total of P9, 019 bet money.

She said BCPO director Colonel Manuel Placido also lauded the accomplishments of all police stations and other operating units to maintain the peace and order in the city.

She added that the BCPO chief also reminded all policemen to be always motivated to do their job to make Bacolod City safe and peaceful and always on alert against the novel coronavirus by strictly implementing and observing the minimum health protocols for their safety and protection.
