TEN barangay officials and personnel, and two residents of Barangay Dulao in Bago City tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Punong Barangay Nida Golvio confirmed to SunStar Bacolod that she, her two kagawads and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman tested positive for the virus.
The other personnel included one tanod and five staff, including the barangay treasurer. Two family members of a kagawad also tested positive for the virus.
All are currently isolated in different quarantine facilities in the city. Most of them are asymptomatic.
Golvio said 21 of them were subjected to swab tests and nine yielded negative results.
Their close contacts are also scheduled for swab testing.
Golvio said the barangay hall was closed since Saturday, May 1, and the resumption remains uncertain.
"We continue to remind our residents to observe health protocols. Please don't disregard the instruction and information being given by the barangay, local government and health authorities," she said.
The punong barangay added that they possibly contracted the virus from one of the residents who made transactions at the barangay hall.
Though, strict protocols are being practiced there, she said.
As of May 3, Barangay Dulao has a total of 40 confirmed Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 13 are still active cases. It has no deaths.
For the entire Bago City, it logged a total of 669 confirmed cases. Of which, 122 are still active, 528 have recovered and 19 died.
