WHAT is it like to receive the vaccine? Are you afraid to receive the vaccine? I know in my circle, some are, that is why I am running this series of features on Filipinos who have received the vaccine and the side effects they have experienced.

Dr. Sherry Lee is one of those people who have received the vaccine. She is working as a breast surgeon at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center. She was inoculated with the Sinovac vaccine from China.

One of the side effects she has experienced is the feeling of heaviness on the injection site, which is commonly observed in people who have received the vaccine. In my other articles, even people who received different brands of vaccine-like Astra or Pfizer also experienced the same. The Sinovac is also administered in two doses.

Luckily for Dr. Sherry Lee, she did not have any adverse reactions. She still advises that even if you have received the vaccine, that one should still follow health protocols. That means people still have to practice social distancing, wear face masks and face shields, and proper handwashing hygiene.

This Covid-19 vaccine alone will not prevent infection and transmission. This should be a combination of maintaining minimum health protocols and vaccines that will prevent infection and transmission of Covid-19.

The vaccines that were distributed in the Cardinal Santos hospital in San Juan, Metro Manila were from the government and also in coordination with the City of San Juan. Therefore, the vaccine was free.

The local government units are already vaccinating seniors and people with comorbidities. Please check with your local barangays how you can get vaccinated. Makati City has a very efficient vaccination program as written on my last article from the Consul of Montenegro who has received it.
