Negros Occidental Capitol to adopt SOP on arriving packages, supplies

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will adopt a standard operating procedure (SOP) in accepting packages and supplies to protect its employees against Covid-19.

This was emphasized Wednesday, May 5, 2021, by lawyer Rayfrando Diaz after 10 of 15 employees assigned at the Provincial Procurement Services Depot tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The 10 employees were among the 19 Capitol employees who tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

The employees at the depot are responsible for accepting and distributing supplies from the Department of Budget and Management in Manila.

"It has been explained that viruses can survive in some materials and things so we will observe an SOP in accepting supplies especially on review and sanitation," Diaz said, adding that the depot will be sanitized for one day.

Most of the Capitol employees who were positive for the Covid-19 virus were asymptomatic and were sent to the Mambukal Resort for healing.

Diaz, meanwhile, said quarantine facilities all over the province are overwhelmed.

He said the EB Magalona quarantine facility was adjusted, as it already exceeded its capacity.

As of Wednesday, Diaz said no Capitol employee tested positive for the coronavirus. A total of 18 closed contact employees were swabbed and all of were negative.

Diaz emphasized that close contact Capitol employees are not allowed to report back to work unless they are cleared to protect employees and keep the workplace safe.
