Exposure to patients leading cause of Covid-19 cases in San Fernando

EXPOSURE to infected patients is seen to be the leading cause of infection among the active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the City of San Fernando, the City Information Office (CIO) reported.

As of Thursday, May 6, the CIO disclosed that 363 patients, or about 40 percent of the total active Covid-19 cases in the city were identified as close contacts of patients who earlier tested positive for the virus.

This means that they contracted the disease either from other family members, neighbors or friends who are coronavirus-positive.

Meanwhile, the source of infection of 250 patients, or 28 percent of the total active cases, was not traced, while 215 patients contracted the disease from their workplaces.

Thirty patients are still also undergoing contact tracing, while 15 patients are identified as frontliners and 12 as healthcare workers.

As of Thursday, May 6, there were a total of 4,047 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the city, with 75.48 percent recovery rate and 3.13 fatality rate.
