THE 98 job order employees assigned at the Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) will have to wait another week to receive their long overdue salaries as City Hall is still processing their payroll.

Cebu City Administrator and lawyer Floro Casas Jr. told reporters that the salaries of the JO employees will be released on Tuesday next week, May 11, 2021.

Casas earlier promised that he would release the salaries of the JO workers on May 3.

Casas said the documents for the releasing of the salaries are now at the City Accounting Office (CAO) and are being finalized since there are still a few documents that need to be included.

He said officials of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), who hired and supervised the 98 JO workers, are now complying with the additional documents needed by the CAO.

Casas also instructed the CCMC to start processing the documents needed for the JOs’ next salaries.

He said what is being processed now are the unpaid salaries for the months of January to March.

The JO workers are given a checklist of requirements for them to be able to claim their salaries. Casas urged the JO workers to complete their requirements ahead of time so the release of their salaries won’t be delayed.

He also asked the JO workers to ask for assistance from their superiors if they need help complying with their requirements.

City Hall’s department heads were also asked to coordinate with his office if there are concerns regarding the salaries of job order workers.

The 98 JO workers, composed of nurses and doctors, have not received their salaries since they started working at the CCQC in January this year.

They were hired after Covid-19 cases in the City started increasing again.

The City allocated P4.3 million for the salaries of the JO employees.

Casas said there was a delay in the releasing of their payment since the budget for their salary was not included in the annual budget for 2021. (JJL)
