Covid-19 cases in Oro steadily rising

THE number of coronavirus infections in Cagayan de Oro further went up as the City Health Office reported 66 new cases on Saturday, May 8.

According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, of the 66 new local cases, 22 were local cases with link, eight were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 33 were local index cases and three deaths.

This brought the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 5,302.

Of the 5,302 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 438 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 4,864 cases were local transmissions.

Active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases also continued to increase as the City Health Office recorded 689 cases, 197 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 488 were outpatients, and four were ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered 43 new coronavirus-positive persons who were tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 4,384.

Of the figure, 311 were LSIs, 122 were ROFs, and 3,951 were local cases (community: 3,356; Apors: 595).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was at 229.
