USC department to hold Hinashasan Writing Workshop: Senior High Edition

The University of San Carlos Department of Communications, Linguistics, and Literature is now accepting submissions for the 2021 Hinashasan Creative Writing Workshop: Senior High Edition, that will be held online from June 16 to 18, 2021.

This workshop aims to provide senior high and incoming first-year college students from the Visayas and Mindanao a venue to have their literary works critiqued, as well as acquaint them with writers and critics from the Cebuano literary scene.

Slots shall be reserved exclusively for senior high or incoming first-year college students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in schools in the aforementioned parts of the country.

Interested applicants may submit a suite of three (3) poems or one (1) five-to eight-page short story written in either English or Cebuano.

Entries must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1-inch margin on all sides, double-spaced, and must not bear the author’s name.

Applicants are also required to submit their resumes with a scanned 2x2 ID picture, together with a short bionote indicating which school they are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in, and any publications and literary awards earned, if applicable.

Submissions must be e-mailed as attachments in MS Word format with the subject header “Hinashasan SH_[Applicant’s Full Name]_[Genre: Poetry or Fiction]” (example: Hinashasan_Juan dela Cruz_Fiction) to: tjlcs.submissions@gmail.com

A maximum of eighteen (18) slots are allocated for the workshop fellows.

Deadline for submission is on May 28, 2021 (Friday).

The final list of fellows will be announced by the first week of June. (PR)
