2 fishermen rescued, 1 missing after collision

AT LEAST two fishermen were rescued, while another one remained missing after their fishing boats collided with a ship off Masbate and Capiz provinces Saturday night, May 8, 2021.

Terence Toriano, chief of the Kalibo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), said they already coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard to help them in the search and rescue operation.

The two survivors were identified as Erald Retos and Leo Asinas. The missing person was Ricky Peralta, 57.

All of them were residents of Barangay Bakhaw Norte, Kalibo Aklan.

“The two were rescued by the nearby fishermen at the area,” said toriano.

Reports said Peralta dived into the sea first when he saw them being bumped by an unidentified vessel.

Investigation is ongoing. (Jun N. Aguirre/SunStar Philippines)
