TO BEEF up the technological capability of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Globe Telecom and virtual wallet GCash have donated different assets to the police camp.
Globe and GCash on Monday, May 10, 2021, turned over 17 laptops, 17 printers, 20 prepaid Wifis, 700 SIM cards, tents and tables for strategic checkpoint areas and text blast system for information dissemination.
“What we like to do is to help our partners in the police force by providing them the needed equipment and tools to make their job faster and safer. We are in full support of the Philippine National Police (PNP). We will go to each and every police station to make sure that we teach the PNP the new trends in technology,” Globe director for external affairs Vismin Patrick Gloria said.
Gloria said they will continue to provide the much-needed improvement on the connectivity and communication of the CCPO.
The partnership also aims to strengthen community relations through the city police.
“The laptops and the printers improve their productivity and operations. We provided a text blast system that provides ease and convenience in information drive aside from merchandising support,” said Adonis Evangelista, Globe regional sales head.
GCash is also set to establish a machine kiosk where police officers can cash in their accounts.
The turnover ceremony at the Camp Sotero Cabahug was also attended by Police Regional Office 7 Director Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo, CCPO director Col. Josefino Ligan, PNP advisory council lead Joseph Ryan Go and Fr. Carmelo Diola of the Dilaab Foundation.
Ligan, in his speech, said the partnership is a clear manifestation and an embodiment that the government and the private sector can collaborate in advocating community-based projects.
“To Globe Telecom, thank you for bridging us to the community and for being our partner in community development and in nation building,” he said.
For his part, Montejo said the tools and equipment Globe donated are needed in communication and connectivity especially during operations and other police activities.
