THE liquor ban in Mandaue City has been lifted with Mayor Jonas Cortes signing Executive Order (EO) 14.

The serving and drinking of liquor in public places were prohibited on Feb. 20, 2021 after the city experienced a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 cases.

The mayor decided to end the ban to help some businesses. However, owners must follow guidelines.

As stated in EO 14, any person, including owners and managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, convenient stores, sari-sari stores and other establishments, may now sell and/or serve intoxicating liquor within Mandaue City provided that these businesses have valid business permits with licenses to sell and/or serve.

The establishment serving liquor shall only accommodate up to 50 percent of its maximum capacity at any given time and must implement health protocols such as social distancing.

The EO stated that there should be a sign and posting visible to customers indicating the number of customers to be served at a certain time and the minimum health protocols imposed in the premises.

Also, the establishment must also post its business permit along with the license to sell and/or license to serve at a strategic area that is visible to any person entering the premises. This could also help enforcement teams in their inspections.

Footbaths, handwashing facilities, dispensers with alcohol-based solutions, other disinfection mechanisms, non-contact thermal scanners and contact tracing forms must be in place.

The establishment must observe curfew, which starts at 11 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Only employees will be allowed to loiter while the curfew is effective. (KFD)
