Guadalupe registers 24 active Covid-19 cases in past 10 days

ONLY one barangay in Cebu City has had more than 20 active cases of Covid-19 in the past 10 days.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported that Guadalupe, which has a population of 100,000, has 24 active cases.

In Cebu City, 54 of 80 barangays have active cases.

Of the other barangays with active cases, only five registered active cases in double digits.

The barangays with double-digit active cases were Lahug, Mabolo and Tisa with 15 active cases each, Banilad with 12 active cases, and Tisa with 10 active cases.

City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the EOC, said only 367 active cases remain in Cebu City.

On May 12, Cebu City swabbed 1,415 individuals and 3.04 percent tested positive for Covid-19.

In the past two weeks, the positivity rate has averaged less than five percent, the World Health Organization’s benchmark indicating that the spread of Covid-19 in one area is not widespread.

In total, 260,778 individuals have been tested for Covid-19, of whom 23,710 tested positive, registering a 9.09 percent positivity rate.

Of those who tested positive, 22,488 have recovered, for a 94.85 percent recovery rate, while 855 died, according to the EOC.

EOC Covid-19 figures differ from those of the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7), as the EOC figures have yet to be validated, according to the DOH 7. On May 12, the DOH 7 bulletin listed 586 active cases in Cebu City. (PAC / KAL)
