Sulu, Tawi-Tawi receive 5th Covid-19 vaccine batch

THE Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) continues to assist in the transport of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines in the island provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr., Westmincom chief, said they shipped Friday, May 14, to the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi the fifth batch of vaccines consisting of two cooler boxes aboard the medium lift transport aircraft, C-295, of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

Each cooler box contained a total of 2,080 doses of vaccines that were turned over to the respective health officers of the two provinces.

Colonel Dennis Estrella, Tactical Operations Wing-Western Mindanao commander, said they always ensure that the airmen are protected while facilitating the safe movement of the vaccines across the country.

"The PAF continues to provide air transportation support to the government's roll out vaccination plan to deliver the vaccines to the farthest places of the Western Mindanao Joint area of operations" Estrella added.

"I commend our airmen for continuously facilitating the safe and timely transportation of the vaccines to the far-flung communities," Vinluan said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
