New infections in Cagayan de Oro hit new high

CASES of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Cagayan de Oro continued to rise, as the City Health Office reported on Friday, May 14, 80 new cases, a new single-day high, bringing the total number of infections to 5,692.

Of the 80 new confirmed cases, 24 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, 14 are local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), 41 are local index cases, and one death, Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said.

Among the 5,692 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 438 are under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 5,254 cases are local transmissions.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 849 active cases, 210 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 637 are outpatients, and two are ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered 48 new coronavirus-positive persons who are now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 4,605, with 80.90-percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 312 are LSIs, 123 are ROFs, and 4,170 are local cases (community: 3,549; Apors: 621).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is now at 238.
