Oro extends curfew hour, prohibits selling of liquor

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno issued on Friday, May 14, an executive order extending the curfew period in the city.

Beginning 12 midnight of May 15, the curfew period in the city will start at 9 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. the next day.

The executive order also prohibits the selling of intoxicating drinks during the curfew hours and for other purposes. Establishments found violating the prohibition will have their business permits cancelled.

It can be recalled that Moreno adjusted the curfew by shortening it to 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. last December 2020.

Moreno, during the daily press conference at the city hall on Friday, May 14, also mentioned about a proposal he received, requesting him to order the closure of the beach resorts in the city.

"Okay man ko ana, wala koy bikil ana pero ang akong kabalakhan, kung mag issue ko og EO, daghan ang madalahig," Moreno said.

He said instead of issuing an executive order, he will ask the barangay tanods, the Regulatory and Compliant Board (RCB) and police to admonish those who are found violating the social distancing and other health protocols in these beach resorts.

"Ato sad nang palabyon karon. Di sa ko mo issue og order suspending all of these or ordering the closure of all of these. But I hope nga the owners will cooperate fully para dili ta paingon didto sa sitwasyon where I may have to order the closure," Moreno said.

"Tabang mo para hapsay ang atong mga pamaagi," he added.
