Comelec nanalipod sa pagkapili sa Smartmatic

Ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) nanalipod sa ilang bag-ong service provider contract tali sa Smartmatic International alang sa Mayo 2022 nga national ug local elections, kay matod niini nga wa silay control sa resulta sa public bidding.

Sa usa ka virtual press briefing, si Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo niingon nga wa sila mopili sa Smartmatic, apan ang kompaniya niapil sa competitive bidding.

“It’s beyond our control who will win the bidding. It will be the lowest calculated bidder,” siya nagkanayon.

Matod niya nga ang public bidding nagsunod sa mga polisiya karon sa kagamhanan sa procurement projects.

“We conducted a post-qualification, and there were observers during the bidding. We just followed what the GPPB (Government Procurement Policy Board) will give us,” tataw ni Casquejo.

Ang Smartmatic maoy nakakuha sa P452.5-million procurement project sa Comelec alang sa automated elections system (AES) software alang sa election management system (EMS), vote counting machines (VCMs), ug consolidation and canvassing system (CCS).

Ni-tender ang Smartmatic og bid nga P402,725,549.70.

Ang kontrata na-award ngadto sa Smartmatic bisan sa daghang mga kontrobersiya sa election nga naglambigit sa kompaniya sukad sa Mayo 2010 nga eleksyon.

Si Presidente Rodrigo Duterte niawhag sa Comelec sa pagbiya sa Smartmatic tungod sa mga alegasyon sa pagpanikas sa eleksyon.

Giklaro ni Casquejo nga ang Smartmatic wa sukad mahimong partner sa poll body sa pagpadagan sa eleksyon. “They are not our partners. They are just the providers. It’s the Comelec that conducts the elections, not anyone else,” matod ni Casquejo. (HDT, SunStar Philippines)
