Oro logs 78 new Covid-19 cases; total now at 5,770

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office logged 78 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in the city to 5,770.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 78 new local cases, 20 were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, 38 were local index cases, nine were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), eight were persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), and two deaths.

Of the 5,770 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 438 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 5,332 cases were local transmissions.

Cagayan de Oro recorded 876 active cases, 219 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 656 were outpatients, and one ROF/LSI.

Cagayan de Oro also registered 45 new coronavirus-positive persons who were tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 4,650, with 80.58-percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 312 were LSIs, 124 were ROFs, and 4,214 were local cases (community: 3,586; Apors: 628).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was at 244.
