Cops told: Strengthen vigilance amid tourism sites reopening

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar ordered cops on Monday, May 17, to be more vigilant and closely monitor tourist attractions, especially those within the National Capital Region (NCR) plus bubble.

Eleazar also reminded the public that despite the NCR Plus area being under general community quarantine (GCQ), there are heightened restrictions that needed to be implemented.

He said tourist attractions were only allowed to operate in 30 percent capacity.

Eleazar said that while he understands the excitement of most Filipinos over being able to finally go outdoors for leisure, people still need to take the necessary precautions against Covid-19 infection.

He urged the public, especially those living within the NCR plus areas, to restrict their travel within the bubble, as they are not allowed to go across the borders for leisure purposes.

Eleazar also reminded the public to strictly comply with health protocols, such as the wearing of face masks and face shield and the observance of physical distancing.

He also reminded the management of businesses allowed to operate to strictly abide by the IATF guidelines on capacity rates and impose minimum health safety protocols on their patrons.

Eleazar also ordered policemen to be vigilant against mass gatherings amid the “fiesta season.” (SunStar Philippines)
