CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said Tuesday, May 18, that he will not issue the implementation of the barangay exit pass scheme in the city despite the continuous increase of Covid-19 cases.

Moreno said the public should not have the need for the government to tell them what to do and what not to do.

"Kanang exit pass, I hope nga we don't have to resort to that," Moreno said.

"Self-discipline is the key. Kining pandemic, ang importante ani is self-discipline. Dili ka na kinahanglan tudluan pa what to do and what not to do," he added.

Moreno also mentioned the possibility of receiving several complaints if the barangay exit pass scheme will be enforced.

He said there is also the risk of more people being infected by the novel coronavirus once violators are brought to detention cells.

"Pag enforce ana kung dili maayo ang enforcement, reklamo. Sunod ang atong pulis, daghan biya ang atong mga pulis nga nag positive na. Sunod kung imong dakpon, dad-on nimo sa detention cell, samot hinoon nga ma-expose sila sa risk," Moreno said.

The mayor said he is not looking forward to issuing the barangay exit pass scheme, and hoped that there will be no need for him to implement it.
