AN ADDITIONAL 3,000 doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Bacolod City from the Department of Health (DOH) Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), said the 3,000 doses were allocated by the National Government to Bacolod City.

He said these additional vaccines will be inoculated to 15,000 recipients, which include healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3), which are eligible priority groups who have yet to receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs.

Emergency Operations Center (EOC) records showed that as of Monday, May 17, a total of 17,000 individuals were already vaccinated with Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.

Bacolod City earlier received 1,680 vials, which is equivalent to a total of 19,420 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier requested the National Government to allocate more vaccines for Bacolod, citing the urgent need to inoculate more residents amid the continued spike in local cases.

Since last week, about 24 vaccination centers in Bacolod City were opened, including in malls, to accommodate the healthcare workers, senior citizens and persons with commodities.

The schedule of vaccination is based on a first-come-first-served sequence in the order of comorbidities.

The City will accommodate only those who have completed their vaccination registration and have received a call or text from the Emergency Operations Center of their confirmed appointments.

Aside from 3,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, Bacolod City is also expecting an additional 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines from the National Government.
