This year’s Miss Universe was not what I expected it to be but I am not against the winners because deserve nila tanan to win. But after watching again the replay of Miss Universe 2020 daghang questions sa akong mind because even Olivia Culpo, I was shocked because this girl is lively mo-host but sa pageant night wala siyay energy. Makita nimo nga she’s not enjoying it. I also think Rabiya didn’t perform well sa finals because I saw her even before sa MUP pa she was good. I don’t think she was affected sa mga bashing murag duna pay laing rason. Well, even the best fall down sometimes. But curious ko nganong nausab siya kalit nga palaban man unta siya days before the coronation.

Based on their performance during the top 5, I was rooting for Peru and India. But I knew that Miss Universe Organization is really unpredictable, so I know nga ma-surprise jud ko sa final result. But I was expecting Peru to win when it went down to 3. But who are we to judge? Maybe the Miss Universe Organization and the judges saw something to Miss Mexico that made her win the crown. On the other hand, I felt bad for Rabiya and it’s just so sad to see her so pressured and lacked power and confidence on stage.

Naka-relate ko ni Rabiya `cuz when I joined Mrs. Philippines World 2019 nakahilak sad ko sa kadaghang nanaway nako but laban lang gyud kay that’s life we cannot please everyone.

I was honestly surprised with the results. The Latinas have indeed dominated the Miss Universe pageant especially with its new format. As for our representative, Ms. Rabiya Mateo, she did an amazing job and she looked undeniably stunning on stage. I’m in no position to criticize and point out her mistakes because I know she did her best knowing how determined she is to raise our flag and continue the legacy of the country. It wasn’t an easy battle for her since there’s a lot of pressure placed upon her as she wears the Philippines’ sash. Although we are not pleased with the results, what we can do is accept Rabiya’s placement and be proud of how she represented our country with pride and grace.

Rabiya exuded so much grace, courage and confidence. She certainly raised our flag well. But Rabiya not taking home the crown is not the end of her journey. Rabiya’s crown is more than just a bejeweled headpiece, it’s her courage and determination to pursue her advocacies as she continues to use her voice to serve the country, especially the underprivileged.

We can’t discount the fact that the other countries have also sent their best. Though Rabiya could have done better during the swimsuit round but I know she has represented our country very well. She’s really a good example of a true phenomenal woman. Congrats Rabiya for making it to the Top 21!
