Village chief denies armed goons existence

MOISES PADILLA -- Barangay captain Jolomar Hilario denied during the weekend the existence of alleged armed goons reportedly harassing leaders of Mayor Francisco Nazareno in his barangay.

Hilario, speaking during Saturday's 11th General Assembly of Barangay Inolingan Women's Association, also appealed to political candidates not to disturb the peaceful environment of his barangay by coming up with baseless reports.

Hilario was reacting to reports quoting Nazareno claiming that his leaders in Barangay Inolingan were being harassed by his political enemies.

"There are no armed goons in my barangay and the political opponents of Nazareno have not even showed up their faces in Barangay Inolingan," Hilario pointed out.

He expressed surprised upon seeing a truckload of RMG troops conducting a checkpoint near his residence and some of whom were seen in the vicinity of Barangay Inolingan Elementary School, where the assembly was held Saturday.

"This is creating restlessness and instability in my barangay as there is no reason why these RMG forces will be deployed here, my barangay is very peaceful; they should not create the impression that there is a peace and order problem in Barangay Inolingan," Hilario lamented.

The RMG troopers also left after Nazareno and his party left the school premises when the program ended. (Dolly Yasa)
