LAND Transportation Office (LTO) 7 Director Victor Caindec has ordered an investigation on a motorcycle group for violating traffic rules and pulling stunts in Cebu City streets.

Caindec, in a Facebook post, called the group’s attention after riders donning shirts and jackets printed with “SMD” and “SuperMoto Cebu” were caught on video doing stunts along the South Coastal Road tunnel and Osmeña Blvd.

“I have directed the LTO 7 Operations division to coordinate with CCTO (Cebu City Transportation Office), HPG (Highway Patrol Group) 7 and PNP PRO (Philippine National Police Police Regional Office) 7, and issue show cause orders to these club members. We will give them a chance to explain,” read Caindec’s message on his Facebook page.

The stunt drivers are in danger of being slapped with a temporary operator’s permit, which is issued to a traffic violator.

One of the riders, while showing off a stunt in front of a photographer, injured himself. This was caught on a video that was posted by Caindec on his Facebook page.

The CCTO also condemned the actions of the motorcycle group in a separate Facebook post.

Initial investigation shows that the group violated the following:

  • Driving a motor vehicle without a motor plate;
  • Entering a one-way road (San Jose St.);
  • Driving in a “No motorcycle allowed lane” (Cebu South Coastal Road Viaduct); and
  • City Ordinance 801 (Speed contest or exhibition at the SRP tunnel).
