OVER 140 more coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients have died, while over 6,000 new cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) Friday, May 21, 2021.
Based on its May 21 case bulletin, the DOH said 6,258 additional cases were reported Friday, and this does not include those from five laboratories that were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 19.
The new cases brought the cumulative count nationwide to 1,171,403.
Of the confirmed cases, 141 more patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing to 19,763 the total number of deaths due to Covid-19.
The case fatality rate stood at 1.69 percent.
The DOH also reported 2,586 Covid-19 patients who have newly recovered.
The country now has a total of 1,096,109 Covid-19 recoveries. This means that 93.6 percent of the Covid-19n patients have been able to recover.
Less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said 55,531 cases are active.
The active cases account for 4.7 percent of the coronavirus infections in the country.
Of the active cases, 93.5 percent are mild cases, two percent are asymptomatic, 1.8 percent for severe cases, 1.4 percent for critical, and 1.2 percent moderate. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
