SIX towns and a city in Cebu’s 3rd District are showcasing their respective products in the fifth tranche of R’ Cebu Exhibit in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

The three-day exhibit which opened Friday, May 21, 2021, is a joint project between Robinsons Galleria Cebu and the Cebu Provincial Government to help local cottage industries, particularly farmers, fishermen, artisans and micro and small business owners, rise above the economic difficulties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, the R’ Cebu exhibit is a good platform for local producers to reach anew the market they haven’t tapped for more than a year because of the pandemic.

She said more than fighting the Covid-19 battle, there is a bigger battle faced by Cebuanos—hunger and loss of livelihood—which needs immediate intervention.

“We bravely stood up with the support of the Department of Tourism and other regional directors of the different government agencies and tourism officers... If you look around, you will certainly say with much awe, wonder and joy that Cebu indeed is moving on and moving forward,” said Garcia.

Cebu’s 3rd district is composed of the towns of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Barili, Balamban, Asturias and Tuburan, and Toledo City. These areas each brought to the exhibit their popular products such as food, coffee, furniture and other export-quality products for the consumers to experience.

The exhibit features organic cassava chips, tablea and camote cookies with malunggay from Aloguinsan; dawa, budbud moron and therapeutic clay from Asturias; the original Balamban liempo, handicrafts, binangkal and turmeric with ginger powder from Balamban; goat’s milk, piñato, tinapay de Barili from Barili; caramilk cookies, native baskets and coco sugar from Pinamungajan; puto lancho, coconut vinegar, tableya and lakay-lakay broom from Toledo; and coffee from Tuburan.

Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 Director Shahlimar Tamano said exhibits such as this expose not only the countryside produce but also their tourism products.

Robinsons Malls senior regional operations manager Flora Mae Adolfo said R’ Cebu helps boost awareness of the products and services offered in Cebu, which is good for the economy.

“When people come here, they get to experience these products,” said Adolfo.

R’ Cebu has already featured the towns and cities of the first, fourth, fifth and seventh districts since January this year.

After showcasing the third district, the second and sixth districts will have their exhibit on June 25 to 27. (KOC)
