Dole 7 pays 967 workers from Alcantara, Ronda

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 7 has paid about P4 million as salaries to 967 workers from the southern towns of Alcantara and Ronda, Cebu who worked from May 1 to 10, 2021, under the Dole’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program.

Tupad is a component of the Dole Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Programs, a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment to displaced workers and underemployed and seasonal workers.

In a statement, the Dole 7 said 514 of the informal sector workers who worked under the program are from Ronda while the remaining 453 workers are from Alcantara.

Each worker received a total salary of P4,040.

Jude Thomas Trayvilla, Dole 7 assistant director, said Tupad workers were mostly farmers, fishermen, displaced workers and those who are underemployed.

He said the workers were provided with personal protective equipment and a group personal accident insurance valid for one year.

They disinfected public areas and declogged canals, he said.

The Dole 7 earlier said that it dished out P5,199,480 in funds as salaries for 1,287 Tupad workers in Badian.

Beneficiaries are given a transaction code so they can claim their salaries at any branch of the Dole’s partner remittance center.

“Beneficiaries will not have to worry anymore of the service charge since it is already being taken care of by the Dole,” Trayvilla said. (WBS with PR)
