Zamboanga anti-drug stings net 7 drug suspects

SEVEN persons were arrested, while close to P100,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Jomar Villegas, 29; Adamson Ceniza, 40; Reykhent Silvano, 28; Mark Delos Santos, 29; Benhar Salip-Majid, 42; Ronald Camanio, 35; and, August Sambo, 52.

Chang said Villegas, a parking attendant, was arrested in possession of some P3,400 worth of illegal drugs, a sling bag, and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 3:05 p.m. Saturday along Roberto Villares Road in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

She said Ceniza, a businessman, yielded some P47,600 worth of suspected shabu, a pouch, and P2,500 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:30 p.m. Saturday along Governor Ramos Avenue in Santa Maria village, Zamboanga City.

Chang said seized from Silvano, unemployed, and Delos Santos, a construction worker, were some P8,160 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:20 p.m. Saturday at Prias Drive in Tumaga village, Zamboanga City.

She said recovered from Salilp-Majid were some P3,500 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Santa Catalina village, Zamboanga City.

Chang said Camanio was found in possession of some P34,000 worth of illegal drugs and marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:40 p.m. Saturday in Gatas village, Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.

She said confiscated from Sambo were some P68,000 worth of suspected shabu and five P1,000 bills boodle money topped with two genuine P500 as marked money when nabbed in a buy-bust operation around 10:20 p.m. Saturday in Purok Farmer in Olingan village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

She added that the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
