Chinese nationals saved from 'illegal detention'

TWO Chinese nationals, who were allegedly detained illegally by their own countrymen, were rescued by police in Angeles City on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon said the victims, identified as Li Deng Hu and Apple Ong, were rescued in a hotel along Friendship Highway in Angeles.

He said the rescue operation stemmed from a report of a certain Sam Carlo Ong, brother of one of the victims, saying her sister was being illegally detained in the subdivision.

The rescue teams were able to arrest the alleged captors identified as Tangz Heing, Li Hai Zheng, and Xiao Na, Chinese nationals, all currently residing at Star Hotel, Friendship Highway, Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City.

When interviewed, the victims said they were being held by the trio against their will after the former were duped in the job they were applying.

De Leon said the suspects will be facing charges for violation of Serious Illegal Detention and Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
