Lizada: Escape

“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.” -- Oscar Wilde

SOMETIMES you just have to let go. Unfortunate, yes, but needed. Because in letting go, you create space for that matters. For those who matter. It is never an easy thing to let go and yet sometimes there is a need to do so. It is like holding a venomous snake. You hold it even if you know it is dangerous. Why you do so can be attributed to many things. But you know in your mind that at some point you have to let go. Otherwise it bites and you die. And yet a lot of us would rather be bitten and die. A lot of us choose to hold the snake.

It can be a job because there is no choice. It can be a relationship because the option is terrifying. And it could be someone because it is just what it is. But really in the end it is a choice that has to be taken. Especially with people. All of us have met and perhaps even lived with persons who are well... snakes. They are poisonous and they bite. They slither across your life and hiss at you. They spit venom whenever they can. And they shed skin so many times that it is difficult to understand what it is they are really. They betray you. But...

There are people that you embrace because wherever they go, they bring light and smiles. There are those who exude kindness and grace. They are the ones who you want to meet. They are the ones you share coffee with and sorrow and jokes. They are the ones you share a sunset or a dream with. They are the ones that light your very soul because they are illumination themselves. There is goodness and an inspiration in them. We all know people like that. We can sit and talk with them for hours without minding the hours. We get lost in them. We run to them because our hearts are free. In a sense we are with them totally. And unconditionally. With them there are no pretenses, only light.

Let us be grateful to both those we leave and those we embrace. They teach us things. One gives us strength and the other character. See? You cannot even distinguish which.

Let us be thankful for the shadows and the snakes because they lead us to light and life. Let us be thankful for the betrayals for they make us realize loyalty. Let us embrace the hurt and the disappointments for they give us the moments of ascension and forgiveness.

Nothing is wasted, only measured and accepted.
