THE Department of Labor and Employment recently released P5.6 million in financial assistance for livelihood program beneficiaries and payment of salaries of Tupad workers in Badian town, Cebu.

The livelihood program beneficiaries are the 43 members of the United Farmers and Fishermen Association of Malhiao who will engage in marine farming or mariculture to augment their income.

DOLE disbursed P489,200 to fund the group’s mariculture project.

The agency also released the reference codes of about 1,287 Tupad workers in the town who will each receive P4,040 as payment for their salaries.

Tupad refers to DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
