THE Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) has completed the casting that will serve as the main structural support for the road of the third bridge.

In a post on its Facebook page, CCLEX said it has completed the casting of all 446 Nebraska University (NU) girders required for the entire 8.5-kilometer span of the expressway.

The NU girders, the first produced in the Philippines, are being installed using the mobile launching gantry at the Cebu South Coastal Road on ramp sections and off ramp sections of CCLEX, Cebu City viaduct, Cordova viaduct and four low-lying bridges on the causeway.

As of April 2021, the overall engineering, procurement and construction progress of CCLEX is at 74.86 percent, while construction alone is at 70.33 percent.

CCLEX is a toll expressway that will connect Cebu City and Cordova town. It is a project of the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., in partnership with the local government units of Cebu City and Cordova.

The P30 billion CCLEX is expected to open to motorists in the first quarter of 2022.

The estimated 50,000 vehicles that will use the bridge daily will pay anywhere from P85 to P255 as toll, as indicated in CCLEC’s Concession Agreement with the Cebu City Government and Cordova town. (PR, CTL)
