Kolor Banwa art competition winners named

TACLOBAN City’s premier art group Kolor Banwa announced the winners of its recently concluded 2021 Arte Larab painting contest-anniversary special.

For the open category, the winners were Clint Nico Laguilles, 1st place; Melchor Tagana, 2nd place; and Loreden Royeras, 3rd place. For the student category, the winners were Michael Flores, 1st place; Jenno Manatad, 2nd place; and Marjorie Bulusan, 3rd place.

The honorable mention awardees for the open category were Christian Cabillo, Richard Fumar Rona, Dhon Raul Labita, Jayson Antillon, and Jerico Lumapas.

For the student category, the honorable mention awards were given to Sarah Jane Lorenzo, Angel Danli Elyza Chua, Jethro Acero, Richel Cacanog, and Mary Faith Dalogdog.

The People’s choice award for the open category went to Dhon Raul Labita while the People’s choice award for the student category was given to Mary Faith Dalogdog.

Kolor Banwa Founder Dante Enage thanked the support of the city government of Tacloban, I Love Tacloban Youth Organization, businessman Raymund Romualdez, Councilor Aimee Delgado-Grafil, and fellow artists Sam Penaso, Ombok Cleofe Villamor, Billy Pomida, who served as judges during the competition.

Also present during the event were Kolor Banwa (Kolor han biswal arte nga Waraynon) members Philip Salem, Aldrin Mercado, Archie Prisno, Tata De La Cruz, Joan Bituin, Melchor Tagana, Hazel Llemos, and Kenn Manatad.

Since 2005, Kolor Banwa has helped young and aspiring artists by providing them training and exhibit venues to showcase their artworks to a bigger audience. (SunStar Philippines)
