ANGELES CITY—The Angeles City One Town, One Product (OTOP) Store has launched a new item: stylish and reusable lei corsages.

The reusable lei corsages were created by local OTOP store merchant, Stitched by Raj. Each lei corsage was formed using reused ribbons, hair clips, mold patterned from a box or scratch paper, buttons from old clothes and stuff, and a lace made from woven nipa.

“Before, we used fresh flowers for our lei corsages which we threw away two days later. So, I thought of a way where we can minimize our waste, while at the same time, reuse these corsages,” City Executive Assistant IV Reina Bella Manuel said

Manuel is supervising the OTOP store operations.

The reusable lei corsages were first worn by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., Vice-Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and other guests during the city’s commemoration of the Jose Abad Santos Day on May 7.

For the upcoming 123rd commemoration of Philippine Independence Day on June 12, Manuel said city officials and guests will wear the same reusable corsages.

Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Head Irish Bonus-Llego said the reusable lei corsages are available at the city’s OTOP store in Barangay Sto. Rosario, or through the store’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AngelesCityOTOP).
