Ex-army man, companion nabbed for illegal drugs, firearms in Kabankalan

AN EX-SOLDIER and his companion were arrested after the recovery of 60 grams of suspected shabu, as well as several firearms during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Tuesday night, May 25, 2021.

Police identified the suspects as Rolly Dofeliz, 52, a former member of the Philippine Army and resident of Barangay 6 of the said city. Also arrested was Edmar Sta. Ana, 38, resident of Georgina Homes in the said barangay.

Kabankalan City police said both suspects handed over one sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P500.

When the poseur buyer identified himself as a cop, Sta. Ana immediately tried to lock the door of the house, but other police officers managed to break the door and arrested both suspects.

Police recovered nine more sachets of suspected shabu, a coin purse, a caliber .357 revolver, seven live .38 caliber bullets, drug paraphernalia, and suspected drug proceeds amounting to P1,000.

The seized illicit substance was valued at P408,000.

Both suspects are facing illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges.

They were detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station.
