‘Salute to a clean flag’

MABALACAT CITY -- Salute to a Philippine Flag, which unifies the Filipino people.

Thus said Capas National Shrine Curator Darwin Campo during the nationwide simultaneous flag raising event marking the National Flag Day Friday, May 28, 2021.

The event was spearheaded by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO).

"The Philippine Flag is the most potent visual symbol of our shared heritage and intertwined fortunes as a nation. It unifies the Filipino people, rising above our cultural, religious, social, and political differences," Campo said.

The Salute to a Clean Flag Movement, in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), aims to spark love and respect for country, beginning with the abundant and proper display of the Philippine flag across the nation, the shrine curator added.

This is in pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation 374, S. 1945, declaring May 28 of every year as the National Flag Day to remember the first use of this national symbol after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan, Cavite, 1898.

The Agency's Virtual Flag Raising Ceremony was streamed live through this Facebook page (Philippine Veterans Affairs Office).
