(UPDATED) The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved the guidelines for the vaccination of up to 35.5 million workers under Priority Group A4 to protect them against severe coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) beginning June 2021.

Group A4, which used to cover economic frontliners and personnel who interact with the public, has been expanded to include government employees and those who work outside their homes. Workers aged 40 to 59 will be given preference over those aged 18 to 39.

Vaccine deployment will focus initially on an estimated 13 million workers in the NCR Plus 8, consisting of the National Capital Region, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, and the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal.

The IATF, in its Resolution No. 117, also reclassified outbound overseas Filipino workers within four months from a vaccination schedule to Priority Group A1.

Should additional vaccine supply becomes available, the immediate family members of healthcare workers will also be included in A1, which currently includes the healthcare workers, mayors and governors.

The government is inoculating Priority Groups A1, A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities). Eligible individuals will be expanded to A4 in June.

For A4, those eligible are:

  • Private sector workers required to be physically present at their designated workplace outside of their residences;
  • Employees of government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned and controlled corporations, and local government units; and
  • Informal sector workers and self-employed who may be required to work outside their residences, and those working in private households.
