More than 1,000 workers in Cebu, Bohol receive pay from DSWD-Central Visayas

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 said it has released about P2.9 million as payment for the 1,070 beneficiaries of its cash-for-work program of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (Kalahi-CIDSS).

The beneficiaries are from Medellin, Daanbantayan and Samboan in Cebu and Guindulman in Bohol who have worked for five to 10 days either cleaning the streets and shorelines, disinfecting public areas, and/or backyard gardening.

In a statement, the DSWD 7 said P2.5 million was already released to 974 beneficiaries in the three areas in Cebu Province during the payout held on May 19, 20, and 25, 2021.

Another P350,000 was released as payment for the 96 beneficiaries in Guindulman in Bohol on Wednesday, May 26.

A total of 513 more beneficiaries (for a total of P650,000 in funds) from Garcia and Sierra Bullones in Bohol are also expected to receive their payment next week.

The agency said beneficiaries from other municipalities in Cebu Province such as Barili, Tabogon, and Talisay City can also expect to be paid in the coming days.

The Kalahi-CIDSS program, which rolled out in 2003, is a poverty alleviation program of the government that is implemented by the DSWD. (WBS with PR)
