New Zonta Club of Cebu 2 president installed

NEWLY installed president of the Zonta Club of Cebu 2 Petite Garcia said teamwork and shared leadership are crucial to achieving the goals and objectives of the organization.

Speaking after her installation as club president, Garcia said Zonta Club of Cebu 2 is built on a time-tested foundation of strong leadership, participatory and collaborative membership, and the members of the board of directors are fortunate to lead a group that is fully committed to the Zontian ideals of service and advocacy for the empowerment of women and gender equality.

Garcia credited past successes to the leadership of former club president, the late Elena Chiongbian Young, and the other past presidents as well as the collective efforts and cooperation of the club members.

As a result of the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Garcia exhorted the members of the club to innovate with smart solutions to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the club’s ability to remain relevant to the community it is serving and be responsive to the needs of the group’s partners and beneficiaries.

The new president stressed that there is a need to crank up what is considered the one key strength of Zonta—the diversity in skill sets, vocations and professions across members, many of whom are successful business leaders and professionals.

Garcia was installed as club president by Zonta International District 17 lieutenant governor Ofelia Bautista during the installation ceremony held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 via Zoom.

Aside from Garcia, also installed were Edwina Wu as vice president for internal affairs and lawyer Mae Elaine Bathan as the new member of the board of directors.
