1st Gov. Bong Lacson Tennis Cup Opens

SPORTS basically hibernated for a year now due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has prevented the holding of many activities and gatherings around the world.

However, with the government slowly easing the situation, activities restarted in accordance with the minimum health protocols.

Over the weekend, six teams gathered for the opening of the 1st Gov. Bong Lacson Tennis Cup hosted by the Negros Occidental Tennis Association (NOTA) Panaad Tennis Club at the Panaad tennis courts.

Gracing the rites was Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who did the ceremonial serve.

This grassroots program also aims to discover and develop young tennis players who aspire will represent the province in the Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy in the future.

Seeing action in the two-weekend event are teams from San Carlos City, Cadiz City, Silay City, Hawaiian, La Carlota City, and Bacolod City.

Bankrolling this sports event is the provincial government of Negros Occidental Sponsored by the Province, Negros Occidental Sports and Cultural Foundation, Rolling Hills Group of Companies, and the Philippine Sports Commission.

The awarding and closing ceremony will be on June 6 with Lacson expected to lead the rites.
