Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases hit new single-day high

CASES of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Cagayan de Oro continued to rise, as the City Health Office reported on Friday, February 12, 78 new cases, a new single-day high, bringing the total number of infections to 3,650.

Of the 78 new confirmed cases, five are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, one local authorized person outside residence (Apor), and 72 are local index cases, Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said.

Among the 3,650 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 422 are under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 3,228 cases are local transmissions.

According to Nery, the 3,228 local cases consist of 186 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), 1,710 local index cases and 1,332 local cases with link.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 404 active cases, 62 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 340 outpatients, and two are ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered 13 new coronavirus-positive persons who are now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 3,070.

Of the figure, 301 are LSIs, 118 are ROFs, and 2,651 are local cases (community: 2,236; Apors: 415).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city is at 176.
