TO ENCOURAGE more people to get vaccinated, business establishments in the country are giving discounts and other promotions to vaccinated customers.

In Cebu, Bai Hotel is also offering customers a 20 percent discount on food and beverage by just presenting their vaccination card and identification card.

The promo is applicable to all food and beverage outlets of the hotel except banquet. Only the person with the vaccination card can enjoy the discount.

“Regardless whether you are or are not fully vaccinated, as long as you had the first dose, you can avail yourself of the discount,” Alfred Reyes, Bai Hotel vice president for operations and general manager, said.

Reyes said some hotels have also expressed their interest in following suit to encourage more Cebuanos to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, a private sector-led initiative that aims to re-start the Philippine economy by empowering Filipinos with vigilance, Ingat Angat announced that vaccinated persons can get exclusive rewards by simply showing proof that they had been jabbed with the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Enjoy exclusive offers from your favorite restaurants when you dine-in and show your vaccination card,” it said in a post.

It said exclusive offers are given by over 150 participating restaurants including fastfood giant McDonalds and homegrown coffee brand Bo’s Coffee.

Ingat Angat is a campaign backed by the country’s top brands. Its main goal is to boost the economy by encouraging the public to go out while strongly reminding them to observe safety protocols.

The Ingat Angat campaign has already obtained the support of the biggest corporations and brands in the country, including Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Alliance Global Group (Megaworld, Resorts World, Emperador), Jollibee Foods Corp., McDonald’s Philippines, Goldilocks, BDO, BPI, Metrobank, Paymaya, Alaska, Champion, Century Pacific Food Inc., Coca Cola Philippines, Oishi Liwayway Marketing Corp., PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble Philippines, RFM Corp., Unilever, Petron/San Miguel Corp., Shell, Ayala Malls, Filinvest Development Corp., Robinsons Malls, SM Supermalls, Globe Telecom, Smart Communications, Angkas and Foodpanda.

Business leaders are pinning their hopes on the government’s vaccination rollout to build up consumer confidence and consumer spending.

Resolution

Earlier, the Cebu City Council appealed to commercial establishments to provide incentives to vaccinated customers.

The City Council, through a resolution, asked the commercial establishments to give incentives to vaccinated individuals by offering discounts, freebies, deals and promos.

Copies of the resolution were furnished to the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc., Cebu City Tourism Commission; Filipino Cebuano Business Club Inc., and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Cebu City Health Department and City Mayor’s Office.

As of May 31, 2021, some 102,338 of the 132,286 master-listed medical workers in Central Visayas had been vaccinated against Covid-19, the health department said in an earlier report.

Of the 102,338 vaccinated healthcare workers, 60,792 have fully been vaccinated after receiving the second dose.

As for the vaccination of senior citizens, the government has finished vaccinating 8,991 senior citizens, while 53,625 other senior citizens are awaiting their second dose, as of May 31.

These figures, however, are still to show progress as the Department of Health 7 still has to start the vaccination of 486,828 remaining master-listed senior citizens.

Of the 122,618 individuals with comorbidities pre-listed for vaccination, 31,877 were already vaccinated with the first dose, while 2,215 have also received their second dose.
