THE Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula received Wednesday, June 2, 2021, the 10th batch of vaccines from the DOH central office as the inoculation of the first three priority groups, namely, A1, A2, and A3, continues in the region.
Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-Zamboanga peninsula assistant director, said the 10th batch of vaccines consisted of 1,500 doses of Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Institute of Russia.
“Konting doses lang ito, initially, to determine ang readiness ng Region 9 sa ganitong bagong klase ng bakuna (These are few doses, initially, to determine the readiness of the region to use this new kind of vaccine,” Alpichi said.
From the airport, the Sputnik V vaccines were immediately brought to the cold storage facility of the DOH in its regional office in Calarian, Zamboanga City.
Alpichi said all of the 1,500 doses of Sputnik V vaccines will be given to the City Health Office.
Meanwhile, Alpichi said they have already received 195,700 doses of vaccines from the DOH central office since March 5.
Of the total, Alpichi said 131,400 doses were Sinovac vaccines, 62,800 AstraZeneca, and 1,500 Sputnik V vaccines.
He said 143,009 of the total registered population of 391,363 were inoculated since the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination drive in March.
Alpichi said 110,176 of the 143,009 received their first dose, while the remaining 32,833 got their second dose. They belong to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups.
The A1 priority group comprises health care workers and frontliners, while the A2 are senior citizens and the A3 are persons with comorbidities aged 18 to 69. (SunStar Zamboanga)
