Agri beneficiary in Floridablanca shows progress of project

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) in Central Luzon, in collaboration with Provincial Agriculturist District I Corn and Cassava Coordinator Reynaldo Sarmiento, visited the Multi Crop Drying Pavement (MCDP) in Barangay Calantas, Floridablanca to check on the status of the DA programs in the area.

The project was shared by the DA in 2019 with the farmers group Calantas Agricultural Farmers Association led by Randy Guevarra. It aims to help not only rice farmers but also corn and cassava farmers.

Guevarra shared the status of the current Cassava Granulating Process conducted by his company RMG Cassava Agro Enterprise. He demonstrated the manufacture of yellow cassava granules using the DA’s distributed Cassava Granulators and its exposure to Multi Crop Drying Pavement (MCDP).

These yellow cassava granules are mixed with animal feed instead of corn and delivered to SMFI FeedMill Bulacan.

Guevarra also shared his gratitude to the department. "I am grateful to the Corn and Cassava Banner Program for guiding our cassava farmers and for providing us with the necessities to improve our cassava farming," he said.

The DA, led by Corn and Cassava Coordinator Adela Peñalba, continues to develop projects and programs for corn and cassava farmers in the region.
