San Simon town execs face suspension anew

OFFICIALS of San Simon in Pampanga were meted anew with suspension in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of land near the municipal hall.

In the two-page Resolution 6786 approved during the May 24 session, the Provincial Board (PB) members concurred with the complaint of several individuals led by a certain Reymundo Almario.

In the decision, Mayor Abundio Punsalan Jr. and Councilors Romanoel Santos, Mark Macapagal, Irene Dagdag, Randell Bondoc and Archiebald Basilio were found guilty of dishonesty, grave misconduct in office, gross negligence in the performance of official duties, gross dereliction of duty and grave abuse of authority.

Punsalan is facing six months suspension, while the Municipal Council members will be sanctioned with three months suspension, all without pay.

It could be remembered that the same officials have already served 60 days preventive suspension on November 2020.

Meanwhile, the PB noted in the resolution that the decision shall take effect immediately and the same shall be immediately executory.

However, the camp of Vice Mayor Leonora Wong said that are still waiting for an order from the Department of the Interior and Local Government before she officially assumes the local chief executive post.
