Lizada: Insane

“I'll take crazy over stupid any day.” -- Joss Whedon

LEMME tell you a true story. This happened when we went out for errands and supplies.

First, we went somewhere South to buy eggs. For some reason, eggs in the city are scarce. But on one of our trips, we discovered a place where eggs abound; the bad news is a lot of people there do not think there is a pandemic. The guy we bought the eggs from emerged from the darkness without a mask or shield. I almost shouted at my wife to back off but she was way ahead of me. Then another customer came along without a mask also. Wow. My wife backed up so fast that she ended up 10 kilometers away. We swore we would never buy eggs there, ever again. Then we drove around a bit because this was a market of sorts. We saw some bananas and we were about to disembark when we were stopped cold. For one, the owner was asleep. And she was not wearing a mask at all. She was enjoying her afternoon nap, oblivious to the pandemic stricken world. But she was not alone. There was someone who sold vegetables without any face cover, the tricycle driver who happily drove around with nary a care in the world. And then we saw two or three people talking, laughing, you guessed it, without any mask or shield.

After the egg foray was the main event. The mall. The first thing I noticed about the mall was that there were a lot of people. And then I noticed children. Double wow. I mean, they may allow children now but what kind of parent would do that? I understand there may be no one to watch over the child but to take the risk? I actually cringed at the sight. Some people can be so......

In these times, my observation skills have been enhanced perhaps because I am very wary of certain things. In the grocery, I saw someone pick up things and when she was done she went straight to her eyes and wiped them. Bravo! Then I saw two people actually shake hands. Bravo-er! Then there was the man who took a cloth to wipe the item he was buying when suddenly, he sneezed and guess what he used to cover his nose? Bravo-est!

Then we saw people happily eating without any masks at all. They munched and just had a grand time. Others had coffee with friends unmasked. They were all having a wonderful time.

No wonder we might be going to MECQ starting June 5. I do not know what will happen to the mall sales as of this writing. I hope they will not go through with it; otherwise, all those people will converge to malls to take advantage of the discounts and risk their very lives.

We deserve whatever comes. God help us all.
