FOUR individuals, including a police officer, were arrested during an entrapment operation launched in San Simon, Pampanga recently.
The suspects were identified as Police Corporal Leomar Calegan, 37; Marlon De Guzman, 39; Menard Mendoza, 32; Michael Maniulit, 50; and Noel Manarang, 23.
The said individuals, who are all members of Apalit Traffic Management Office-Truck Ban Division, were allegedly caught extorting money from cargo trucks passing by their jurisdiction.
Police were able to confiscate cash amounting to P804,170 believed to be the total amount collected from truck drivers, two P500 marked bills, one PNP issued gun, and assorted IDs.
All five suspects will face criminal charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 3019 and RA 6713, while the police officer is charged with an additional administrative case.
